The Slate Headlap Calculator Sliding Rule by MRUK Tools is a highly accurate and beautifully engineered tool for converting roof pitch to required headlap.

How to use:

Hold the guid rule level and place the guide rule datum point on the roof slope.

Slide the second datum arm inwards until it makes contact with the roof pitch.

Read the indicator markers on the sliding arm to calculate roof pitch (right reading) and the required headlamp in mm (left reading)

To ensure the tool is being used correctly, establish which exposure zone the roof is being read in, for instance if the location of the roof is in a moderate exposure area, you must read the data on the MOD indicator, likewise if you are using the tool in an area of severe exposure you should read the SEV indicator.
